- Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
- Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
- But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
- Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
- Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
- Hatred stirs up conflict,
but love covers over all wrongs. - You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
- Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. - Listen, my son, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many. - Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.
- And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
- Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
- Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
- I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live. - The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. - See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. - If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
- Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
- Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
- Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble. - Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
- Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
