- Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
- Godliness makes a nation great,
but sin is a disgrace to any people. - But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
- Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. - But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed. - But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
- For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
- I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. - Keep the commandments and keep your life;
despising them leads to death. - Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
- But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
- Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
- And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins. - For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
- You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
- The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity,
but it destroys the wicked. - So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
- I have swept away your sins like a cloud.
I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist.
Oh, return to me,
for I have paid the price to set you free. - This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
- Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love. - This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
- In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
- Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!
- He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
