Sin (2/6)

  • Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love,
which you have shown from long ages past.
Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth.
Remember me in the light of your unfailing love,
for you are merciful, O Lord.
  • If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
  • Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.”
  • That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
  • Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
  • Oh, what joy for those
    whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away.
  • Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
  • And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
  • For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.
  • When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
  • Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you!
  • Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
  • And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins.
  • There is a path before each person that seems right,
    but it ends in death.
  • But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
  • So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
  • For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
  • Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
  • But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
  • But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
  • Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.
  • Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
  • “Come now, let’s settle this,”
    says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.”

Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
