- When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but the prudent are restrained in speech. - Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world.
- I treasure your word in my heart,
so that I may not sin against you. - For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
- Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a reproach to any people. - For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind.
- Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah - I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed. - But if the wicked turn away from all their sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is lawful and right, they shall surely live; they shall not die.
- Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your doings
from before my eyes;
cease to do evil. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers. - This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all.
- No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
- Those who keep the commandment will live;
those who are heedless of their ways will die. - Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin).
- Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.
- That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.
- I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud,
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you. - In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- You want something and do not have it; so you commit murder. And you covet something and cannot obtain it; so you engage in disputes and conflicts. You do not have, because you do not ask.
- While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long. - Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.
- As far as the east is from the west,
so far he removes our transgressions from us. - If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
