Chinese (traditional)I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors,
for you have given me wisdom and strength.
You have told me what we asked of you
and revealed to us what the king demanded. Those who control their tongue will have a long life;
opening your mouth can ruin everything. After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Evil people get rich for the moment,
but the reward of the godly will last. Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Fools have no interest in understanding;
they only want to air their own opinions. Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord. The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences. He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living. But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word. When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied. Haughtiness goes before destruction;
humility precedes honor. Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!” But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul. And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil. I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him. If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.Next verse!With image
