Chinese (traditional)Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud. Keep the commandments and keep your life;
despising them leads to death. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. O Lord, I have come to you for protection;
don’t let me be disgraced.
Save me, for you do what is right. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Hear my prayer, O Lord!
Listen to my cries for help!
Don’t ignore my tears.
For I am your guest—
a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should! So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life,
but those who ignore correction will go astray. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord. Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
