- For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,
the Lord is our king;
it is he who will save us. - There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. - I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. - In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness. - “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
- But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
- “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.
- This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
- You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
- The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does. - Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.
For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence. - Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him! - Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”
- For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
- Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. - Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord. - He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. - Lord, hear my prayer,
listen to my cry for mercy;
in your faithfulness and righteousness
come to my relief. - Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. - Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
- But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
