but the rebellious dwell in a parched land. - Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
- Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. - Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
- Wealth gained hastily will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. - Blessed is the one
whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered. - Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
- I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.
- Honor widows who are truly widows.
- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a prince. - And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
- Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
- Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist.
