Bible Verses about '1 John 4:18'

  • Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
  • Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
  • This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
  • But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
  • Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
  • But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
  • God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
  • This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
  • Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
  • No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
  • And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
  • All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
  • We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
  • We love each other because he loved us first.
  • If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
  • And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
  • For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.
  • And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
  • And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
  • Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.
  • I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
  • And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
  • And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
  • And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.
  • Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
  • This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
  • So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.
  • But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
  • But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
  • He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
  • Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
  • For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
  • And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
  • Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
  • So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.
  • But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
  • And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
  • See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
  • Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
  • Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
  • But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
  • This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
  • We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
  • If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
  • Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
  • Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
  • Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
