against those who do evil. - God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. - What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
- Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool;
even less are lies fitting for a ruler. - Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good?
- For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours. - “Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.” - What are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them? - You are my rock and my fortress.
For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. - The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
- Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
- So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.
- Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
- O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
