- Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you.
- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church, the body of which he is the Savior.
- But as for you,
the anointing you received from him
remains in you,
and therefore you do not need anyone
to teach you.
This same anointing
teaches you everything
and is true and not false,
so abide in him just as he taught you. - Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
- For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.” - Therefore, encourage one another and strengthen one another, as indeed you are doing.
- Let my teaching fall down like rain,
and my words descend like the dew.
Like rain upon the sprouts,
and like showers upon the grass. - As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
- Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. - May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us.
- I love the Lord because he has heard my voice
and listened to my cry for mercy,
because he has inclined his ear to me
on the day when I called out to him. - As iron sharpens iron,
so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor. - For the entire Law can be summed up in a single commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- For you, O God, have put us to the test;
you have purified us as silver is refined. - Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up to heaven.
- Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
- I give you a new commandment:
love one another.
Just as I have loved you,
so you should also love one another. - However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband.
- The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
- Seek good and not evil,
so that you may live.
Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you
as you claim he is. - Whoever believes in me,
as Scripture has said,
‘Streams of living water
shall flow from within him.’ - For ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’ As even your own poets have said, ‘We are all his offspring.’
- Can anyone withhold the water of baptism from these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
- As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.
So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober. When Jesus heard this, he said, “Do not be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be saved.”
