| I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. | These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. |

| Prepare in advance what you want to say, and return to the Lord. Say to him, “Take away all guilt and give us what is good, so that we may present as offerings the bullocks from our stalls.” | Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. |
| But according to Scripture all things have been confined under sin, so that through faith in Jesus Christ what was promised might be given to those who believe. | But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. |

For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. | Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. |
| For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so too, through Christ, do we receive our consolation. | For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. |
