Child is born (2/4)

  • Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
  • My child, keep your father's commandment,
    and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
  • My child, do not despise the Lord's discipline
    or be weary of his reproof,
    for the Lord reproves the one he loves,
    as a father the son in whom he delights.
  • My child, be attentive to my words;
    incline your ear to my sayings.
    Do not let them escape from your sight;
    keep them within your heart.
  • While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • By faith he received power of procreation, even though he was too old—and Sarah herself was barren—because he considered him faithful who had promised.
  • Just as you do not know how the breath comes to the bones in the mother's womb, so you do not know the work of God, who makes everything.
  • Before the mountains were brought forth,
    or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
  • All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
    “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
    and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
    which means, “God is with us.”
  • Who, though he was in the form of God,
    did not regard equality with God
    as something to be exploited,
    but emptied himself,
    taking the form of a slave,
    being born in human likeness.
    And being found in human form,
    he humbled himself
    and became obedient to the point of death—
    even death on a cross.
  • You shall not abuse any widow or orphan. If you do abuse them, when they cry out to me, I will surely heed their cry; my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children orphans.
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  • No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known.
  • By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
  • God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
  • For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
  • As they came from their mother's womb, so they shall go again, naked as they came; they shall take nothing for their toil, which they may carry away with their hands.
  • And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.
  • Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
  • They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my special possession on the day when I act, and I will spare them as parents spare their children who serve them.
  • Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  • For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.
  • Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
    whose sin is covered.
  • For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our ruler,
    the Lord is our king; he will save us.

For who is God except the Lord?
And who is a rock besides our God?
