  • Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.
  • Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

  • Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
  • And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
  • A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself;
    but the simple pass on, and are punished.
  • And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
  • Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
  • For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.
  • If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
  • For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
  • Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord;
    and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you:
    for I am merciful, saith the Lord,
    and I will not keep anger for ever.
  • The heavens declare the glory of God;
    and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
    Day unto day uttereth speech,
    and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
  • Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
  • For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
  • And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
  • For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom,
neither shall fruit be in the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail,
and the fields shall yield no meat;
the flock shall be cut off from the fold,
and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
