- But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.
- When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but the prudent are restrained in speech. - Just as you do not know how the breath comes to the bones in the mother's womb, so you do not know the work of God, who makes everything.
- The Almighty —we cannot find him;
he is great in power and justice,
and abundant righteousness he will not violate. - I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit.

and there is no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will exult in the God of my salvation. - But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.
- Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
- Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?
- Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.
- If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
- The wicked borrow, and do not pay back,
but the righteous are generous and keep giving. - If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.
- All day long the wicked covet,
but the righteous give and do not hold back. - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath.
- Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you.
- But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
- No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also.
- Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. - What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
- No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one.
- The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.
- And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you.
- For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.
- Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers.
