- For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind.
- Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.
- For whoever finds me finds life
and obtains favor from the Lord. - Seek the Lord while he may be found,
call upon him while he is near. - With my whole heart I seek you;
do not let me stray from your commandments. - So that by God's will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.
- Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path. - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him. - No one who conceals transgressions will prosper,
but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. - I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil.
- But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint. - Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
who do his commands;
seek righteousness, seek humility;
perhaps you may be hidden
on the day of the Lord's wrath. - Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
- A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing personal opinion. - I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - Praise the Lord!
Happy are those who fear the Lord,
who greatly delight in his commandments. - You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.” - I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
- If you refrain from trampling the sabbath,
from pursuing your own interests on my holy day;
if you call the sabbath a delight
and the holy day of the Lord honorable;
if you honor it, not going your own ways,
serving your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs;
then you shall take delight in the Lord,
and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth;
I will feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Jacob,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Remember your creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come, and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.
