  • But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
  • Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
  • For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
  • And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me.
