Chinese (traditional)- Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
- And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
- And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.”
- Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
- All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
- Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous rules. - Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name. - Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
- Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
- Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
- A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.”
- But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
- For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
- For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
- Ponder the path of your feet;
then all your ways will be sure. - Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
- You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
- For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well. - If you turn at my reproof,
behold, I will pour out my spirit to you;
I will make my words known to you. - For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
- May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
- Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
