- Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
- For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.

- So is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire

- If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
- Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
- Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you. - For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
- I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. - Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke? - I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
- When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
- But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
- A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
- Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
- Take words with you
and return to the Lord.
Say to him:
“Forgive all our sins
and receive us graciously,
that we may offer the fruit of our lips.” - So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
- So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
- I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.” - Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions. - I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
- Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings. - You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you. Be strong and courageous.
