Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. | Jesus answered, “If it is possible! All things are possible for one who has faith.” |
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. | Welcome anyone whose faith is weak, but do not get into arguments about doubts. |
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. | If he refuses to listen to them, report it to the Church. And if he refuses to listen to the Church, treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. |
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. | But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience. |
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. | Where can I go to hide from your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, you are there; if I take my rest in the netherworld, you are also there. |
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. | If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. |
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. | Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I depart. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you. |
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him. | This saying can be trusted: If we have died with him, we shall also live with him. |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. | Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due when it is in your power to grant it. |
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. | This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. |
And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. | And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” |
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. | As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone. |

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. | Whoever heeds admonition is on the path to life, but anyone who rejects correction goes astray. |
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? | Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?” |
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. | This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. |
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. | Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety, but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out. |
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. | Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. |
For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. | However, if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you are upright in your dealings with your neighbor; if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow; if you do not shed innocent blood in this place; and if you do not follow other gods and thereby cause your own destruction, then I will allow you to live in this place, in the land that I gave as a permanent gift to your fathers long ago. |
