In the beginning (4/4)

  • “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends.
  • For a day in your courts is better
    than a thousand elsewhere.
    I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than live in the tents of wickedness.
  • Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
  • Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin).
  • Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
    all you who wait for the Lord.
  • The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
    “Hosanna to the Son of David!
    Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
    Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not rely on your own insight.
    In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths.
  • Remember your creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come, and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.
  • Save us, we beseech you, O Lord!
    O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!
    Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
    We bless you from the house of the Lord.
  • Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Meanwhile the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was built up. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
  • Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.
  • I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!
  • Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
  • Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus.”
  • Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
  • On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
  • Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards.
  • Those who are wise understand these things;
    those who are discerning know them.
    For the ways of the Lord are right,
    and the upright walk in them,
    but transgressors stumble in them.
  • So I will display my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.
  • Search me, O God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my thoughts.
    See if there is any wicked way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.
  • And it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
  • My soul yearns for you in the night,
    my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
    For when your judgments are in the earth,
    the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
  • Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens,
    and founds his vault upon the earth;
    who calls for the waters of the sea,
    and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
    the Lord is his name.
  • All deeds are right in the sight of the doer,
    but the Lord weighs the heart.

Bible verse of the day

We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
