- Where can I go to hide from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I take my rest in the netherworld, you are also there. - If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
- Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory shine over all the earth. - I have given you a command. Be strong and brave, do not be afraid nor dismayed. I, the Lord, your God, will be with you wherever you go.
- At dawn let me experience your kindness,
for in you I place my trust.
Show me the path I must walk,
for to you I lift up my soul. - Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth. - This rather is the type of fast that I wish:
to loosen the fetters of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to set free those who are oppressed
and to break every yoke. - Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. - Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- The whispers of a gossiper are tasty morsels
that corrode one’s inner being. - Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - Let those who are wise understand these words,
and let the prudent acknowledge them.
For straight are the ways of the Lord;
the upright walk in them,
but sinners stumble. - Let your face shine upon your servant;
save me in your kindness. - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to prisoners
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free. - And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it was for this that you were called together in one body. Always be thankful.
- Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
- Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
and let your glory shine over all the earth. - Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus.
- Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cries of supplication. - You did not choose me.
Rather, I chose you.
And I appointed you
to go out and bear fruit,
fruit that will remain,
so that the Father may give you
whatever you ask him in my name. - And God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the wild animals and reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
- So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober.
- Jesus then said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
- On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
“If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.” - This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us exult and rejoice in it.
