- Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. - Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved. - We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps. - You can make many plans,
but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. - So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
- Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
- Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! - But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
- God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
- A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. - For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
- And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
- Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
- In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
- Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
- God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
