Chinese (traditional)- And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
- What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
- So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” - A perverse person stirs up conflict,
and a gossip separates close friends. - Fools give full vent to their rage,
but the wise bring calm in the end. - The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him. - What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
- The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
- There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. - Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
- Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. - So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. - A person’s riches may ransom their life,
but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
- It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans. - A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—
and how good is a timely word! - Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands. - He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord. - For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
- How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
- It is to one’s honor to avoid strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel. - We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
- Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.Next verse!With image
