- However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
- Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross! - The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. - And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
- Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. - In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
- Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
- “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.”
- Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers. - In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. - To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless. - Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult. - “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
- One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - Like a city whose walls are broken through
is a person who lacks self-control. - Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes. - He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. - For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- Anxiety weighs down the heart,
but a kind word cheers it up. - He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
- Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious,
but fools are consumed by their own lips. - Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
- The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale. - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
- All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.Next verse!With image
