- The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed. - Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
- Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
- O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.”
- Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
- I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands. - You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever. - Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
- Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
- The Lord says,
“I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.
I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’
to a nation that did not call on my name.” - Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
- I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
- I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. - In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. - That is why the Lord says,
“Turn to me now, while there is time.
Give me your hearts.
Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.” - Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
- Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
- Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
- I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors,
for you have given me wisdom and strength.
You have told me what we asked of you
and revealed to us what the king demanded. - I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
- Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
- Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.
- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
Rescue me, O Lord, from liars
and from all deceitful people.Who is the King of glory?
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies—
he is the King of glory. Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.Next verse! With image
