Mind (2/2)

  • The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers.
  • Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin).
  • Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.
  • May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus.
  • For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.
  • If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.
  • Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.
  • Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done.
  • Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.
  • When the cares of my heart are many,
    your consolations cheer my soul.
  • Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.
  • But, as it is written,
    “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
    nor the human heart conceived,
    what God has prepared for those who love him”
  • A fool gives full vent to anger,
    but the wise quietly holds it back.
  • Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.
  • So acknowledge today and take to heart that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.
  • For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
  • As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
  • Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
  • Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another.
  • My child, be attentive to my words;
    incline your ear to my sayings.
    Do not let them escape from your sight;
    keep them within your heart.
  • Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.
  • Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
  • Can a woman forget her nursing child,
    or show no compassion for the child of her womb?
    Even these may forget,
    yet I will not forget you.
    See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
    your walls are continually before me.
