| He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. | Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. |
| But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. | Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. |
| If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. | “If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor me.” |
| Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. |
| Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? | Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? |
| For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. | “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. |
| My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. | Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. |
