But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. | But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. |

For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. | For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness. |
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. | But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will come forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His times of coming forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity. |

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. | The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. |
Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever. | ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not look at you in anger.
