- Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
- Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you. - O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples. - As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
- Return, faithless Israel,
says the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
says the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
- Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them.
- So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.
- For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well.
- Let your face shine upon your servant;
save me in your steadfast love. - Let the wicked forsake their way,
and the unrighteous their thoughts;
let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. - For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. - Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.
- I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live. - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. - Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing.
- But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”
- Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.
- Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good repute
in the sight of God and of people. - One who forgives an affront fosters friendship,
but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. - Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
- Be on your guard, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but may receive a full reward.
- Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
who do his commands;
seek righteousness, seek humility;
perhaps you may be hidden
on the day of the Lord's wrath. - And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
