- No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
- I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
- Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
- So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
- For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
- Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers. - Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.
- Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
- Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
- Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
- Can a man walk on hot coals
without his feet being scorched? - Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
- No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
- Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
- All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
- But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
- Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
- Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or turn away from them. - This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
- Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. - God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill? - A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.
Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.Next verse!With image
