He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Who will render to every man according to his deeds.He will render to each one according to his works.
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.
