- When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom. - Pride brings a person low,
but the lowly in spirit gain honor. - To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech. - Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice. - For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

- Children’s children are a crown to the aged,
and parents are the pride of their children. - He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
- Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. - Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

but humility comes before honor. - God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
- Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones. - Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

when they were satisfied, they became proud;
then they forgot me.
