  • Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice!
  • What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
  • Therefore, we can say with confidence:
    “The Lord is my helper;
    I will not be afraid.
    What can anyone do to me?”

    will also do the works that I do,

  • So if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out there. If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  • From that day forward Jesus began to proclaim the message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.”
  • You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
  • Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners.
  • Through the grace that God has bestowed upon me, I advise every one of you not to think of yourself too highly, but to regard yourself objectively, based on the measure of faith that God has granted.
  • I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
  • Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
  • Then Peter came up to him and asked, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy times seven.”
