Should (3/4)

  • But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
  • Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
  • For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’
  • Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
  • Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
  • Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.
  • Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
    yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
  • God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
  • For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.
  • I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous rules.
  • Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
  • If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
  • And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
  • Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
  • Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
  • Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
  • Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • Pray then like this:
    “Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.”
  • But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
  • If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
  • As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
  • And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
  • Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

Bible verse of the day

In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.

Random Bible Verse

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.
