- One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
- For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
- From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
- The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
- I have made a covenant with my eyes;
how then could I gaze at a virgin? - However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
- Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
- For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.
- Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
- For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.
- When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
- Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident. - Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me. - A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
- Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
- Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- What is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him? - Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
- Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.
- I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
- And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”
- What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
- And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
- What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.Next verse!With image
