Chinese (traditional)- Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
- You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
- One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
- The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
- The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
- My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
- I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman. - If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
- Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
- Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
- You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.
- I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.
- For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.’ - Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
- For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
- When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. - Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident. - A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
- In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
- He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
- In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
- What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.Next verse! With image
