Should (3/4)

  • For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
  • I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
  • My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
  • For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
  • Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”
  • What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
  • What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
  • For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”
  • Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.
  • Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!
  • Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
    Though she may forget,
    I will not forget you!
    See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.
  • God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
  • For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
  • I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws.
  • And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
  • For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
  • Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
  • Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
  • May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
  • If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
  • Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
  • Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
  • Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
  • And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
