Bible Verses about 'Slow to speak'
- So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
- As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.
- Yahweh is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. - He who is slow to anger has great understanding,
but he who has a quick temper displays folly. - Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
- One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city. - Open your mouth for the mute,
in the cause of all who are left desolate. - Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.
- Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
- Tear your heart and not your garments,
and turn to Yahweh, your God;
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness,
and relents from sending calamity. - If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
- Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
- I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
- When they lead you away and deliver you up, don’t be anxious beforehand or premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
and serve justice to the poor and needy. - Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “None of my words will be deferred any more, but the word which I speak will be performed,” says the Lord Yahweh.’
- For the customs of the peoples are vanity;
for one cuts a tree out of the forest,
the work of the hands of the workman with the ax.
They deck it with silver and with gold.
They fasten it with nails and with hammers,
so that it can’t move.
They are like a palm tree, of turned work,
and don’t speak.
They must be carried,
because they can’t move.
Don’t be afraid of them;
for they can’t do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - But say the things which fit sound doctrine.
- Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
- Wake up righteously and don’t sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a son of man, that he should repent.
Has he said, and he won’t do it?
Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good? - I will bless Yahweh at all times.
His praise will always be in my mouth. - Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”
- When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
- He who walks blamelessly and does what is right,
and speaks truth in his heart;
he who doesn’t slander with his tongue,
nor does evil to his friend,
nor casts slurs against his fellow man. - He who guards his mouth guards his soul.
One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked is perverse. - But speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ.
- The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
Day after day they pour out speech,
and night after night they display knowledge. - Because your loving kindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise you.
So I will bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands in your name. - For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- For,
“He who would love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good.
Let him seek peace and pursue it.” - These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
- Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

- I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
- For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.
- If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- Even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- It is better to take refuge in Yahweh,
than to put confidence in man. - The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted,
to proclaim release to the captives,
recovering of sight to the blind,
to deliver those who are crushed. - You may say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in Yahweh’s name, if the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.
- Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
- Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
- Yahweh is near to all those who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. - The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me,
because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble.
He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to those who are bound.
