- Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
- The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. - He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:
but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;

for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness,
and repenteth him of the evil. - The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power,
and will not at all acquit the wicked:
the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet. - But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
- Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
- But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
- But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine.
- Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
- Open thy mouth, judge righteously,
and plead the cause of the poor and needy. - For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
- Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God.
- The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
- Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
- For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
- God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
- I will bless the Lord at all times:
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. - Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. - But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
- The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Day unto day uttereth speech,
and night unto night sheweth knowledge. - Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name. - For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
- And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
- Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
- Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
- I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
- For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
- For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
- And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
- It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man. - Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
- Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
- The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
- And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
- And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
- How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!
and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! - Who will render to every man according to his deeds.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
