Bible Verses about 'Slow to speak'
- You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
- And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.
- The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in mercy. - Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak,
For the rights of all the unfortunate. - One who is slow to anger has great understanding;
But one who is quick-tempered exalts foolishness. - And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.
- One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And one who rules his spirit, than one who captures a city. - Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
- Do not participate in the useless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
- “And tear your heart and not merely your garments.”
Now return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and compassionate,
Slow to anger, abounding in mercy
And relenting of catastrophe. - The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.
In the gale and the storm is His way,
And clouds are the dust beneath His feet. - If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment.
- “Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,” ’ ” declares the Lord God.
- The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
- And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And defend the rights of the poor and needy. - And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.
- But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
- These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.
- For the customs of the peoples are futile;
For it is wood cut from the forest,
The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
They decorate the idol with silver and gold;
They fasten it with nails and hammers
So that it will not totter.
They are like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
And they cannot speak;
They must be carried,
Because they cannot walk!
Do not fear them,
For they can do no harm,
Nor can they do any good. - Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.
- God is not a man, that He would lie,
Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? - I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth. - Opening his mouth, Peter said:
“I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,
but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.” - One who walks with integrity, practices righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.
He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor do evil to his neighbor,
Nor bring shame on his friend. - One who guards his mouth protects his life;
One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
But the mouth of the wicked, what is perverted. - But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, that is, Christ.
- The heavens tell of the glory of God;
And their expanse declares the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge. - Because Your favor is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name. - For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- For,
“The one who desires life, to love and see good days,
Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
He must turn away from evil and do good;
He must seek peace and pursue it.” - Pay to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.
- And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
- Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.’ ”
- I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.
- For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
- For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
- And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him.
- It is better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in people. - And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
- The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed. - Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.
- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord anointed me
To bring good news to the humble;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim release to captives
And freedom to prisoners. - The Lord is near to all who call on Him,
To all who call on Him in truth. - How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
