- While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long. - Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a ruler. - Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.
- Even before a word is on my tongue,
O Lord, you know it completely. - Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
- The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the mind of the wicked is of little worth. - For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
- Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
- In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. - I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. - Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
- I have not departed from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured in my bosom the words of his mouth. - Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.
- Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
- Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
- You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the Lord has not spoken?” If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.
- If you refrain from trampling the sabbath,
from pursuing your own interests on my holy day;
if you call the sabbath a delight
and the holy day of the Lord honorable;
if you honor it, not going your own ways,
serving your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs;
then you shall take delight in the Lord,
and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth;
I will feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Jacob,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Not that I am referring to being in need; for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
- If another disciple sins, you must rebuke the offender, and if there is repentance, you must forgive. And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive.
- But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight. - Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”
- I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
