- This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you. - In that way, I can come to you in joy, if God so wills, and be refreshed together with you.
- This must not be so with you. Instead, whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your servant.
- Come to me, all you who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest.
- I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - For you, O God, have put us to the test;
you have purified us as silver is refined. - You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine.
- Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
- You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
- May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
- O Lord, all my longing is known to you,
and my sighs are not hidden from you. - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his mercy endures forever. - Then Jesus said to those Jews who did believe in him,
“If you remain faithful to my word,
you will truly be my disciples.
You will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.” - Do not be afraid or dismayed, the Lord will go before you; he will not fail or forsake you.
- Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and give you help,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. - Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? You have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.
- O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast
because of their trust in you. - Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? If he is not, then you have failed the test.
- For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
- You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time.
- Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
- Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples. - You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.
- O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water. - You can eat any water creature that has fins and scales; those you can eat. Whatever does not have fins or scales, you are not to eat. It is unclean for you.
