Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. | Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.” |
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. | When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but wisdom is with the humble. |

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. | Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path. |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. | What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! |
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? | I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look upon a virgin? |
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. | Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” |
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. | Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. |
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? | Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? |
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. | I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing. |
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. | This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. | So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. |
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. | And those who are in the flesh cannot please God. |
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? | What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it? |
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. | Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” |
How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. | How much more valuable is a human being than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath. |
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. | Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. |
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. | Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. |
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ. |
And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. | Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. |
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. | But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. |
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. | So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. |
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. | Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. |
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | So then let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. |
