- But when they had grazed, they became full,
they were filled, and their heart was lifted up;
therefore they forgot me. - And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
- Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
- But they who wait for the Lord
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. - And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
- Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. - Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted. - Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God. - For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
- And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
- Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
- And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God. - Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
- And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
- On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.
- Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!
- Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.
- Your testimonies are my heritage forever,
for they are the joy of my heart. - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied. - Without counsel plans fail,
but with many advisers they succeed. - And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
- When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
- When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
- And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
- And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
- And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.
- The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the inner parts of the body. - And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
- And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
- I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.
- Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!
- Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
- And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
- Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
- So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
- Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
- Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!
- Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
- While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
- They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.
- The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you. - They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
