- When I fed them, they were satisfied;
when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart
and quickly forgot me. - Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
- Their eyes were opened and they realized that they were naked. They took fig leaves and sewed them together, making themselves a covering.

Then they are fastened with hammers and nails
to prevent them from toppling.
Like scarecrows in a cucumber field
they are unable to speak,
and they must be carried from place to place
since they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they can do no harm,
nor do they have any power to do good. - But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!”
- They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they placed it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. Then, bending the knee before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- Then, after completing their fasting and prayer, they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
- When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words.
- Gaze upon the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or store in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of far greater value than they?
- Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God. - On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
- Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.

- Plans miscarry when counsel is lacking,
but they succeed when there are many counselors. - When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all assembled together in one place. Suddenly, there came from heaven a sound similar to that of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were sitting.
- After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
- Oh, that they would have fear of me in their hearts and they would observe all of my commandments always. Then things would go well with them and their children forever.
- A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance. - And every day, both in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming Jesus as the Christ.
- Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. Rather, they should show themselves to be completely trustworthy so that in every way they may add luster to the doctrine of God our Savior.
- When God saw by their actions that they had turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not inflict upon them the punishment that he had threatened.
- However, if the wicked renounce all of the sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is right and just, they shall surely live; they shall not die.

- Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them. They will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
- Therefore, whenever you give alms, do not trumpet your generosity, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets in order to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have already received their reward.
- I will, thereby, display my greatness and my holiness and make myself known to many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.
- Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. - I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love so that they may grow rich in their complete understanding as they come to the knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ.
- While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after he had pronounced the blessing, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take this and eat; this is my body.”
- Everyone who seeks a prize submits himself to rigorous self-discipline in every respect. They do so to win a perishable crown, while we seek an imperishable one.
- He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
- On one occasion, while they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set Barnabas and Saul apart for me to do the work to which I have called them.”
- They shall be mine,
says the Lord of hosts,
my own special possession
on the day when I act,
and I will have compassion on them
as a father has compassion
on the son who serves him. - That is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, and they devote themselves to this service.
- The love of the Lord is never exhausted,
nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end.
They are renewed every morning;
his faithfulness never ceases. - Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to distribute among the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Then they gathered up what was left over—twelve baskets of fragments.
