This (2/4)

  • Therefore, we fasted and prayed to God to grant us a safe journey, and he answered our prayer.
  • This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
    but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.
  • Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
  • This is the end of my teaching.
    All has been heard.
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for that is the responsibility of everyone.
  • Remember this: if you sow sparingly, you will reap sparingly, and if you sow generously, you will reap generously as well.
  • But do not ignore this one fact, beloved: with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
  • Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
  • For from the beginning
    you have heard the message
that we should love one another.
  • And I say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it.
  • Then I came to realize that all toil and skill in work derive from one person’s envy of another. This also is vanity and a chase after the wind.
  • No one can have greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends.
  • For everyone born of God
    conquers the world.
And the victory that conquers the world
    is our faith.
  • One who is covetous will never be satisfied with money,
nor will the lover of wealth be content with gain.
    This too is vanity.
  • This is
‘the stone rejected by you, the builders,
    that has become the cornerstone.’
  • For I know that through your prayers and with the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will result in deliverance for me.
  • God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him.
  • To these God chose to make known how rich is the priceless glory that this mystery brings to the Gentiles—Christ in you, your hope of glory.
  • Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
  • I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in you will bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.
  • When Jesus heard this, he said, “Do not be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be saved.”
  • In my anguish I cried out;
    the Lord heard my plea,
and I was saved from all my troubles.
  • I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
    Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world.
  • This is how you should pray:
    ‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • For this day in the city of David there has been born to you a Savior who is Christ, the Lord.
  • Out of the same mouth flow blessings and curses. This should not be so, my brethren.

Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.
