- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a prince. - Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
- For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds. - And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
- But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
- For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.
- Let us test and examine our ways,
and return to the Lord! - Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
- Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy! - But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
- But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
- Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
- For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
- If you turn at my reproof,
behold, I will pour out my spirit to you;
I will make my words known to you. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom. - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless,
but destruction to evildoers. - The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” - Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
- Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
