- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them.

because the Lord has anointed me.
He has sent me to announce good news to the oppressed,
to strengthen the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom to those held in captivity
and release to those who have been imprisoned. - Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory
because of your kindness and faithfulness. - There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to pass judgment on a neighbor?
- It is better to acquire wisdom rather than gold,
and more desirable to acquire understanding rather than silver. - Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul.
- However, to those who did accept him
and who believed in his name
he granted the power to become children of God. - Behold, we are now going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised to life.
- He gives strength to the weary
and new vigor to those who are powerless. - Pleasing words are like a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and affording health to the body. - It is rash to pledge a sacred gift,
or to make a vow and then have second thoughts. - Therefore, he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them.
- When you call out to me and come forth and pray to me, I will listen to you.
- They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.
- To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. - Do not swerve either to the right or to the left;
keep your foot far from evil. - You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people.
- The Lord has told you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”

I will sing praise to my God while I have life. - Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.
- Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due
when it is in your power to grant it. - Dispose my heart to follow your statutes
and to flee selfish gain. - Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. Rather, they should show themselves to be completely trustworthy so that in every way they may add luster to the doctrine of God our Savior.
- This rather is the type of fast that I wish:
to loosen the fetters of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to set free those who are oppressed
and to break every yoke. - So Christ, having been offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.
- Through the grace that God has bestowed upon me, I advise every one of you not to think of yourself too highly, but to regard yourself objectively, based on the measure of faith that God has granted.
- If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
- Your word is a lamp for my feet
and a light to my path. - Moreover, the one to whom God grants wealth and possessions and the ability to enjoy them and to find contentment in his toil receives a gift from God.
- For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve.
- I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - Do not wear yourself out in the pursuit of wealth,
and cease even to think about it. - There is a way that seems right to a man,
but the end of it leads to death. - For your kindness extends to the heavens;
your faithfulness, to the skies.
