| Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. | For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. |
| But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. | We have sinned and done wrong, acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and ordinances. |

| Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. | For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. |
| For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. | It is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God. |
| When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. | For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. |
| For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. | For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's building. |
| But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live. | Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. |
| And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. | Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. |
| Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. | Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved. |
| Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone. | Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. |
| Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. | What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? | What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
| So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. | Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. |
| Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success. Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. | Save us, we beseech you, O Lord! O Lord, we beseech you, give us success! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. |
| This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. | For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
| But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. | But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us. | If we diligently observe this entire commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, we will be in the right. |
